Phased Out: Take Your Workflows to the Next Level with Stages
The most efficient law firms (and, thus: the most profitable) are driven by effective processes. In fact, creating and managing workflows is one of the most important things that you can do as a law firm owner.
However, you can take it further.
Many project management, case management and CRM systems now offer the ability to add ‘phases’ or ‘stages’ to processes. That allows you to effectively segment your workflows, breaking them up into categories. For example, you could create a ‘document collection’ phase. Or, you could generate a ‘discovery’ stage. This method for managing workflows allows for greater transparency into the segments of the process, which offers both attorneys and staffpersons a better understanding of how each case type breaks down.
Another benefit of using stages is that they make it easier to hire for specific roles, within your practice. If you want to bring on a discovery paralegal, or a litigation attorney – you have the process already laid out for what they will do. Segmenting jobs, in this fashion, has become increasingly popular for attorneys.
