Explain It To Me Like I'm 5: Generative AI Helps Build Better Client Communications

Traditionally, attorneys have struggled to communicate value to leads & clients.  Sometimes, lawyers linger on legalese, or they’re simply talking over the heads of the people they most desperately need to understand what they’re doing.  Generally speaking, lawyers are really good at talking to other lawyers – it’s why most law firms are built on referral-based marketing – but, when it comes to consumers: it’s a whole other story, that sometimes does not have a happy ending. 

 

Now, the good news is that generative AI tools are really excellent at developing analogies, and breaking down complex concepts, into simpler formats.



You’ve heard the expression: ‘Explain It To Me Like I’m 5’.  You can quite literally do that, with a generative AI.  Input a concept, and use the shorthand ELI5 – and, a generative AI will give you an explanation to deploy.  You can use that for any age range, as well.  You could ask a generative AI tool to use specific examples, as well – Explain this concept using numbered blocks.  Or, explain this terminology by using farming terminology.  That sort of thing.  Your options, really, are endless. 

 

This type of strategy could apply to legal concepts, as well as billing strategies.  For example, you could use an AI to help you to come up with a compelling description of an evergreen retainer, that a potential client will understand. 

 

So, if you’re looking to simplify how you deliver information to leads and clients, generative AI tools just became your new best friends.
